Hamilton Tiger-Cats make multiple moves, including signing defensive lineman Trevon Mason.

On Tuesday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed defensive lineman Trevon Mason, dismissed defensive backs Michael Jacquet II and Frederik Lesieur, and placed defensive back Will Sunderland on the six-game injured list, per the CFL Transactions page.

Trevon Mason is six foot five and weighs 290 pounds. The 25-year-old from Arlington, Texas, attended the New York Jets rookie minicamp and later signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022. Then, Mason was drafted by the Orlando Guardians (XFL) in the fifth round (36th pick) of the 2023 XFL Draft.

However, Orlando released him and he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Roughnecks. In 2023, Mason made 16 tackles (9 solo, 7 assists), 2.5 sacks, and one interception in ten games. The Elks signed Mason as a free agent on January 18, 2024, but was released on May 11, 2024.

Collegiately, Mason played two seasons at Navarro College (2017-18) with 49 tackles (33 solo, 16 assists), 12 tackles for loss, four sacks, one fumble recovery, and six pass breakups in 20 games for the Bulldogs.

Then, he transferred to Arizona (2019-21) making 106 tackles (56 solo, 50 assists), 15 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and seven pass breakups in 28 games for the Wildcats. He was an All-PAC 12 Honorable Mention in 2021.

Michael Jacquet III is six foot two and weighs 201 pounds. The 27-year-old from Beaumont, Texas, signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He played one season in Philadelphia making 18 tackles (12 solo, 6 assists), one quarterback hit, one sack, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble in seven games.

Next, Jacquet III signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 playing one regular season game recording no stats. Jacquet III would later have a stint with the New York Giants. The Los Angeles Chargers signed Jacquet III as a free agent on August 23, 2022, and was placed on the practice squad. Jacquet III made six tackles (3 solo, 3 assists) and one pass breakup in three preseason games in 2023. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats signed Jacquet III on February 14, 2024.

Collegiately, Jacquet III played four seasons at Louisiana-Lafayette (2016-19) with 85 tackles (65 solo, 20 assists), 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions for five yards, 16 pass breakups, one forced fumble, 46 catches for 494 yards, and three touchdowns in 46 games for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He was named Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference in 2019.

Frederik Lesieur is six foot two and weighs 225 pounds. The 22-year-old from Montreal, Quebec, signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on April 29, 2024. Before Hamilton, Lesieur was set to play for the Karlskoga Wolves (Sweden) in 2024. Collegiately, Lesieur was a redshirt freshman at Penn State in 2021 before transferring to Concordia.

Lesieur played for the Grizzlis de Boucherville and Cegep de Lennoxville in 2016 helping the team to a 10-1 record winning the state championship. He was also a three-time team captain.

In his junior season at Cegep Andre-Grassett, Lesieur made three interceptions and two touchdowns in his junior season. In addition, he was named a two-time All-Star and earned a Team Quebec invitation to Team Canada tryouts.
