The Baltimore Ravens secured their future defensive prowess with a significant move on Friday, finalizing a groundbreaking four-year contract extension with defensive tackle Justin Madubuike.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the lucrative four-year deal is valued at $98 million, propelling Madubuike to the second-highest paid defensive tackle in the NFL, trailing only Los Angeles Rams’ standout Aaron Donald.

The Baltimore Ravens signed defensive tackle Justin Madubuike to a four-year $98 million extension, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The team also announced the signing. After franchise tagging Madubuike ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, the two were able to come to a deal just days later.

Originally a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Madubuike was strategically placed under the non-exclusive franchise tag earlier in the week to safeguard against the possibility of him entering free agency. With this new agreement, Madubuike is committed to the Ravens until the culmination of the 2027 NFL season.

The 26-year-old athlete showcased his exceptional skills throughout the season, participating in 17 games and achieving career-high statistics. Madubuike recorded an impressive 13 sacks, 56 tackles, and 33 quarterback hits, solidifying his reputation as a defensive force. His stellar performance earned him a coveted spot in the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career, as well as recognition on the All-Pro second team. Notably, Madubuike even received a vote for the prestigious AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
