Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad will be taking over as Crystal Palace’s head of sports medicine, replacing Dr. Zaf Iqbal, who is set to join Arsenal in the summer.

Following the announcement of Dr. Zaf Iqbal’s move to Arsenal last month, Crystal Palace began the search for his replacement. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad, who has been with QPR since 2016, is expected to fill the role at Palace.

Dr. Ahmad joined QPR as a club doctor and was later promoted to head of medicine. Since 2022, he has overseen performance and medicine at the west London club.

Dr. Iqbal has been part of Crystal Palace’s medical staff for eight years, having previously worked at Liverpool and Tottenham. His move to Arsenal comes after Gary O’Driscoll, Arsenal’s former head of medical services, left to join Manchester United last year.

In other news, Palace are set to appoint Oliver Glasner as their new manager, replacing Roy Hodgson. Hodgson recently collapsed during a training session but is reportedly recovering well. Glasner, the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager, has agreed to a contract at Selhurst Park until 2026, with the option of a further year. He was spotted scouting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of Palace’s upcoming match on March 2.
