French Formula 1 Cast-Off Driver Could Find New Home With Haas F1 Team In 2025

Fresh Esteban Ocon Alpine exit claims with F1 2024 underdogs in 'pole position'

French Formula 1 driver Esteban Oconall but sealed his fate with the Alpine team when he ran into teammate Pierre Gasly at last week’s Monaco Grand Prix.

Alpine announced Monday that it will part ways with Ocon following the completion of the 2024 season.

But it appears that he won’t be a free agent for long, and American team Haas F1 could well be his new home.

Haas F1 Reportedly Negotiating With Esteban Ocon

Spanish Formula 1 outlet Formu1a.uno reports that Ocon and Haas have already begun negotiations.

“Esteban Ocon is emerging as an increasingly central player in the driver market,” Diaz states. “He is understood to have begun contract talks with Haas as he evaluates the different options for 2025.”

Jaden Diaz reports that Ocon is a rising candidate to replace current Haas driver Kevin Magnussen.

“Esteban Ocon is emerging as an increasingly central player in the driver market,” Diaz states. “He is understood to have begun contract talks with Haas as he evaluates the different options for 2025.”

Ocon to leave Alpine at end of F1 season

Fellow Haas driver Nico Hulkenburg has already agreed to leave the team and join Sauber in 2025.

Current Ferrari Academy driver Oliver Bearman (who debuted in F1 earlier this season and scored points in place of Carlos Sainz following his appendectomy) is expected to replace Hulkenberg.

But Ocon could well be the one to fill Magnussen’s spot is the Dane is not retained.

“Kevin Magnussen currently occupies a Haas seat, having spent over half a decade at the American outfit. Unfortunately for the Dane, there are a plethora of alternatives available to Haas. Therefore, what might have seemed a relatively secure seat twelve months ago is now in jeopardy,” Diaz writes. “Ocon is a hugely desirable option for Haas. He is a driver with great speed and plenty of experience. It would be relatively uncontroversial to say Ocon is slightly faster than Magnussen – and even less contentious to say that he is more consistent.”
