Former All-Pro lauds Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, Heisman Trophy winner’ exceptional promise

Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels 'Answered the Bell,' Continuing to Impress
This was high praise indeed.

Jayden Daniels presents himself in a way befitting a quarterback for an NFL team. The Washington Commanders, who were captivated by his abilities and off-field demeanour during their pre-draft evaluations, had high expectations for him.

Daniels is settling in nicely, albeit it’s still early in the process. During the early sessions, he has demonstrated the qualities linked to a collegiate athlete’s success. These revolve around having fluid motions, being accurate at all three levels of the pitch, and releasing the football from his hands in a timely manner.

More significantly, Daniels gained the respect of more seasoned colleagues. The rookie’s work ethic has been acknowledged, as evidenced by the likes of Bobby Wagner and Jonathan Allen. Players feel practically forced to follow when they witness the man in charge of leading football’s most crucial position making the hard yards.

Not just the people within the facility are endorsing Daniels.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels gets high praise from Patrick Peterson

According to remarks made by USA Today Sports, former All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson had nothing but respect for the Heisman Trophy winner when he was questioned about his promise. He said he believed this was the best quarterback coming out of college in 2024 and that the Commanders are in excellent hands with the dual-threat weapon.

“For the most part, his career at LSU was just unbelievable. What he was able to do last year and the steps he was able to make from the previous year, it was just remarkable to see the steps and strides he was able to make to solidify himself as the Heisman Trophy winner and second overall pick of the Washington Commanders. It’s going to be interesting to see how his career ends up panning out. I do love his skill set, I think he probably, not probably, I thought he was the best quarterback as far as overall skillset, pocket presence, going through the process of reading the routes, I just thought he was the best all-around quarterback in this 2024 draft.”

It’s important to keep in mind that Peterson attended LSU. But he’s not alone in believing that, in a pinch, Daniels might be a better choice than Caleb Williams, the first pick.

Before the draft, people like Dan Orlovsky had similar opinions. It won’t be long before the Commanders are vying for awards if this proves out to be true.

Daniels has a very high ceiling, but while he adjusts to life as a rookie, it’s crucial to maintain perspective and limit expectations. Fortunately, the signal-caller is in an environment that the Commanders have carefully designed to minimise potential problems when the regular season rolls around.

There’s a growing feeling that the Commanders are dealing with something unique. The secret will be to properly nurture it. This implies that the dubious offensive line must somehow gel in order to give Daniels the clean sheets he needs to make an immediate impression.

Said to be easier said than done, particularly in light of the issues surrounding the offensive tackle positions. Nevertheless, Daniels has the mobility and financial acumen to make up for these shortcomings and have a successful first year in a professional setting.

Daniels has no limits, and Peterson’s laudatory comment just strengthens this assertion.
