Exclusive: Brentford star will sign new deal as talks move quickly.

Thomas Frank wants to keep midfielder despite injuries.

Josh Dasilva is expected to sign a new contract with Brentford in the coming weeks. The 25-year-old midfielder is entering the final two months of his contract during an injury-plagued season. Talks have moved quickly since late April to extend his current contract, which expires on June 30. Thomas Frank wants to keep Dasilva despite losing him to injury for much of the season. Following hamstring, ankle, and knee ailments, the Arsenal academy product, who was signed in 2018, has made only five appearances.

Brentford vowed to support Dasilva during his recovery from knee surgery in February, even if he left the club. It demonstrates how highly regarded he is after appearing 157 times for the Bees, helping the side win promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and comfortably surviving relegation in the following three seasons.

Defender Ben Mee is also negotiating to extend his contract, which expires in the summer. However, Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka, who has been reduced to the bench in recent weeks, may look to leave the club. During the January transfer window, Fulham, Everton, Girona, and Reims shown interest in the Nigeria international. Brentford has guaranteed Premier League survival and is 16th in the table with two games still to play.
