Finally, Michigan football was able to turn three-star defensive tackle Deyvid Palepale away from USC on Saturday night.

With 2024 defensive lineman Deyvid Palepale, who has committed to USC, Michigan football has been on the rise.

The Wolverines were a formidable opponent prior to his pledge to the Trojans. In fact, Michigan football appeared to be the front-runner for the Pennsylvanian defensive lineman, who is 6-foot-2 and 305 pounds.

But in the initial round of recruiting, the Trojans prevailed against the Wolverines. Nevertheless, Michigan persisted, and following a disastrous defensive year for the Trojans, along with a 13-0 campaign and a Big Ten championship for the Wolverines, Michigan has successfully turned things around.

Examining a flip for the Wolverines.

Palepale, the 26th commit in the 2024 class, had been making waves with speculations that she would flip, but she finally made it official on Saturday night. By all criteria, Palepale comes in at number 739 in the 247 Sports composite rankings.

The defensive tackle informed The Wolverine that Jesse Minter had likened him to defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a former Michigan player, and that nose tackle seemed to be his best position going forward.

Deyvid Palepale, Manheim Township, Defensive Line

“(Minter) was saying that he thinks I have a second Mazi Smith. He sees some Kris Jenkins as well. He believes I’m a hybrid of the two. My play fits quite nicely with their plan. He said that I was like one of those guys, which meant a lot because those guys are animals. It’s absurd to be compared to him because the Cowboys are my favourite team. Next up is The Mutant. It’s absurd.

Along with Ted Hammond and Manuel Beigel, Palepale is the third true defensive lineman to pledge to the Wolverines in the 2024 class.

Of course, another three-star pledge could make some Michigan football supporters roll their eyes. But as innumerable cases have taught us, U-M excels in assessments.

Palepale will likely surpass his rating as many Wolverines do since the Wolverines are as excellent as it gets in that area, particularly with Mike Elston on the defensive line.
