The defensive back arrived at Montlake in 2022 and has since suffered a number of injuries.

Jordan Perryman, who was injured frequently while playing cornerback for the University of Washington in 2022, inked a free agent contract with the BC Lions of the CFL on Monday.

Perryman did not get selected in the previous year’s draft, attended the Las Vegas Raiders’ training camp, and was released due to an injury at the deadline in early September, meaning he missed the entire season.

The 6-foot, 202-pound defensive back was a promising addition to Kalen DeBoer’s inaugural Husky squad, but he sustained a dislocated shoulder against Oregon in Eugene, a torn quadriceps muscle in the season opener against Kent State at Husky Stadium, and a broken thumb against Texas in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

Perryman remarked, “It was one of the hardest times of my life,” during the UW Pro Day a year ago. “I came here to prove myself, was banged up for more than half the season and wasn’t able to show what I could do. …I got a lot of hate [messages] from fans.”

A native of Hanford, California, Perryman spent four seasons as a player for UC Davis, where he was twice selected to the first team of the Big Sky. However, he transferred to the University of Washington after the program’s two first-team All-Pac-12 cornerbacks, Trent McDuffie and Kyler Gordon, chose to forego their remaining eligibility and be selected in the first two rounds of the NFL draft.

In his place, Perryman started ten games for the Huskies. He was injured in six other games and missed games against Portland State, Michigan State, and Stanford while recovering from a quad injury.

If Perryman could avoid injuries in the future, he could develop into a respectable professional player. He demonstrated some toughness last year at the Pro Day, as evidenced by his repeated injuries, and he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash.
