Due to injury, three key Florida Football players will miss the spring season

Myles Graham and Kam Waites are suffering from illnesses.

While spring training is underway, not every Florida Football player is feeling at full strength. Billy Napier mentioned two prominent Gators players at his press conference yesterday; they are probably out of the picture for spring camp due to injury.

Myles Graham was one of the prized recruits Napier was able to get in the class of 2024. The son of Gator legend Earnest Graham, Myles is expected to compete for linebacker reps as a true freshman.

But people had noted that Graham wasn’t partaking in drills as spring camp opened back up after Spring Break, and Napier confirmed that Graham had back surgery to fix an issue that stemmed from high school and won’t be seen again until the fall.

Myles Graham, he had an injury coming in, we went through phase one and phase two, we kind of set a deadline, like hey when we get to spring break, if we feel like this is going to be a long-term issue, we want to go ahead and get it fixed, so we made that decision”

Another potential starter that is fighting off injury is Kam Waites. The offensive lineman tore his achilles last off season but wound up recovering to see action in eight games and started two.

Napier noted that Waites is fighting off a calf strain and wouldn’t be suprised if he sits out the rest of spring camp.

“He’s done a really good job and had a really good offseason, sometimes these soft-tissue things are perplexing but he’ll be back”

Florida will continue with their spring camp for the next couple of weeks, culminating in their Orange and Blue game on April 13 at 1 PM.

The Gators will open their 2024 season at home on August 31 against the Miami Hurricanes.
