Jackson Powers-Johnson spoke highly of Lions’ O-line.

Under general manager Brad Holmes’ direction, the Detroit Lions added a franchise cornerstone in the first round of the draft. The Lions selected Penei Sewell, who has emerged as one of the league’s top offensive tackles.

Sewell was drafted out of Oregon, and in just three years, he has become an All-Pro.

Now that Holmes is in his fourth season as general manager, the Lions may look to another Oregon star to help them on the offensive line. As the highest-rated player at centre, Jackson Powers-Johnson is thought to be one of the greatest offensive line prospects in the Draft.

During his Saturday media availability at the NFL Combine, Powers-Johnson was questioned about what it would entail to join the Lions’ organisation.

“It’s huge just knowing that you’re going to an organisation that has a great offensive line and a great team,” said Powers-Johnson. “Seeing that, and even considering that I could be a part of anything like that, is humbling. particularly having a man from Oregon who is ranked 58, Penei Sewell. I feel incredibly honoured to even be included in the discourse, and it’s a fantastic scene.”

The Lions’ offensive line, which features Frank Ragnow at centre and Sewell and Taylor Decker at tackle, is among the finest in the league. Jonah Jackson and Graham Glasgow, the starting guards, will both be available as free agents this offseason.

Rumour has it that the Lions are looking to add some youthful offensive line support due to uncertainty surrounding both guard spots. Scouts predict that Powers-Johnson will have minimal trouble moving from Ragnow’s current centre position to the guard position.

Furthermore, Ragnow struggled with numerous ailments throughout the previous season, and the Oregon native would provide reliable depth.

By the Draft, Detroit has assembled a potent offensive line, and Holmes’ example would be followed by adding another.
