Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon shared a message after the Dunk Contest

Despite never winning the Dunk Contest, Denver Nuggets star Aaron Gordon is widely regarded as one of the greatest dunkers in the event’s history. Some even argue he is the best, despite never clinching the title.

Following an underwhelming Dunk Contest on Saturday night, Gordon gained attention on social media with a humorous post. Despite having the most 50-point dunks in the contest’s history and finishing second twice, Gordon joked on X (formerly Twitter) that he could have placed second again this year.

The Dunk Contest has faced criticism for its lack of originality, as most dunk variations have already been attempted. This diminishes the novelty and excitement of the dunks. Gordon’s performances stood out because he executed dunks that had never been seen before and seemed almost impossible. His showdown with Zach LaVine in 2016 is considered by many as one of the best Dunk Contests in NBA All-Star Weekend history, and it’s unlikely to be surpassed.

Gordon has stated that he is no longer interested in participating in the Dunk Contest, but his impact on the event and his innovative dunks will be remembered as a significant part of its history.
