Early in November, the veteran suffered a concussion while playing against the Chicago Bears.

Hayden Hurst, a tight end for the Carolina Panthers, has encountered an unexpected setback on his road to recovery. His father, Jerry, disclosed on X that Hayden has been diagnosed by an independent neurologist with post-traumatic amnesia.

This information becomes unclear regarding Hayden’s recuperation and return to the football field on the same day that he resumed practice.

Hurst is currently taking part in drills.

Hayden was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday, according to the Panthers website, despite having been listed as a non-participant in recent weeks due to a concussion.

The mystery surrounding the player’s current circumstances is heightened by the open division between his family and team.

Hurst remains in concussion protocol

Interim head coach Chris Tabor addressed questions about Hayden’s health during media availability, emphasizing that the team is evaluating his condition in real time.

Hurst, who hasn’t played since November 9, remains in concussion protocol, and his absence has posed challenges for the struggling Panthers, who hold a 1-11 record.

Hayden, in his first season with the Panthers, signed a three-year, $21.7 million deal last offseason.

A former first-round pick, he previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals.

While Hayden has faced adversity on the field, his openness about mental health struggles and his role as a fundraiser for nonprofits showcase his resilience off the field.
