The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed three players, including running back Devonte Williams, and added offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek. They have also dismissed offensive lineman Jacob Ruby.

The Ottawa Redblacks signed three players back this week and acquired offensive lineman Dariusz Bladek, looking to their 2023 roster. Running back Devonte Williams, linebacker Frankie Gryphon, and linebacker Gary Johnson Jr. are among the returning players. The release of offensive lineman Jacob Ruby was also confirmed by Ottawa.

Williams’ two-year deal is a significant decision for Ottawa; in his previous campaign, the second-year running back amassed over 1,000 yards in rushes. In 15 games, he added three more scores.

Johnson wrapped off his rookie campaign with the Redblacks on Tuesday and was re-signed. In 11 games, he ended with eight tackles and one forced fumble. Johnson participated in the 2019–2022 Saskatchewan Roughriders season. He worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars in December prior to the extension.

After 14 games played, Gryphon finished his third season in the CFL with 79 total tackles and one interception. His cumulative tackle total since joining the Redblacks in 2021 is 127.

Bladek, who missed the majority of the 2023 season due to injury, has joined Ottawa. He had previously played in Toronto, where he started 19 games in all while leading the team to a Grey Cup championship in 2022. Since being selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round of the 2017 CFL Draft, he has made 72 appearances in his career.

Ruby was selected ninth overall by the Montreal Alouettes in 2015, and he played there until moving to Edmonton in 2017. During his CFL career, he has participated in 96 games; the last two of those seasons were spent with Ottawa.

This offseason, the Redblacks extended the contracts of 14 players on their roster, and they still have 19 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.
