Now, Crystal Palace is expressing interest in acquiring Ben Johnson, the number two player for West Ham.

That’s what The Athletic claims.

What is the current state of affairs between Ben Johnson and Crystal Palace? Let’s examine.

Ben Johnson is desired by Crystal Palace.

The defender has reportedly previously turned down two contract offers from West Ham, according to The Athletic.

Johnson, 24, has been given a new four-year contract by the east Londoners, but he has not yet been able to come to a deal with the Hammers, which leaves him open to leaving this month.

The guy with 58 Premier League games is reportedly attracting interest from Crystal Palace and Leeds, maybe through a cut-price deal this month or a free transfer in the summer.

West Ham would be inclined to trade Johnson right away because it appears that this month will be their last opportunity to get paid for the London player.

The West Ham academy graduate’s priority, according to the Athletic, is to stay in the Premier League, which currently puts Crystal Palace ahead of Leeds. However, he wants guarantees regarding playing time.

This season, Johnson has made 11 appearances across all competitions and has contributed one assist.

Crystal Palace may decide to overhaul the right-back position entirely.

Interestingly, aside from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s rise, Crystal Palace’s right-back lineup may soon look entirely different after years of essentially being the same.

Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne have contracts expiring at the end of the current campaign, and Dougie Freedman is in the process of bringing in a new right-back in the form of Genk No. 23 Daniel Munoz.

Therefore, Johnson may quickly replace Ward and Clyne with two new faces if he signs in addition to him during his contract impasse at West Ham.

It’s important to monitor this situation because signing Johnson this month at a reduced cost is still a possibility.
