The Sun claims that in front of the summer window, Crystal Palace has made a serious inquiry about Iliman Ndiaye. The Marseille forward is being considered by the Eagles to replace Michael Olise, and the French team is willing to let him go for approximately £15 million.
Crystal Palace want Iliman Ndiaye
With 14 goals and 11 assists in his final season, Iliman Ndiaye was a major factor in Sheffield United’s promotion back to the Premier League. The Blades received a respectable offer from Marseille, which they approved and released the 23-year-old.
For Ndiaye, things have not gone well in Ligue 1, as he has not even approached his previous season’s level of play. The former Sheffield United player has only managed one goal and three assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances, thus Marseille is considering selling him for £15 million.
Although they haven’t lost their respect for Ndiaye, Crystal Palace expressed interest in him back in January and have placed a formal inquiry before the summer. The Eagles anticipate making significant adjustments to their attacking lineup, with Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze’s futures being especially uncertain.
Both Olise and the latter have high-profile suitors, and the Manchester Clubs are expected to compete for his services. There’s a good probability Palace would accept their asking price and think of Ndiaye as Olise’s replacement. The 23-year-old can play a variety of positions, but it’s unclear if he can accurately mimic the Palace winger.
Ndiaye more of an Eze replacement
Ndiaye appears to be more of an Eze substitute than an Olise replacement based on his placements for Marseille. The latter is expected to attract a lot of attention in the summer and, although he has been linked to a new deal with Crystal Palace, he may decide to take on a bigger challenge.
In light of Ndiaye’s style of play and attributes, Palace ought to think about substituting him for Eze. Although Olise is also anticipated to depart, the Eagles ought to look elsewhere for a replacement who can produce on par with the French winger—and Ndiaye is not that person.
