Cronulla Sharks have officially confirmed deal into 2024

The door is definitely open': FA boss welcomes NRL club's shock soccer bid

Following their collaboration last season, the Sharks and Lae Biscuit Company, a popular snack brand in Papua New Guinea, have extended their pioneering partnership through 2024. The distinctive yellow Lae Biscuit logo will once again grace the back-right panel of the club’s NRL shorts, a position it has held since round 20 of the 2023 season.

Having been a longstanding major sponsor for the four-time Papua New Guinean champions, Lae Snax Tigers, Lae Biscuit, led by chairman Ian Chow, brings a passion for rugby league to the Sharks family. Sharks CEO Dino Mezzatesta expressed gratitude to Ian Chow and Lae Biscuit for their ongoing support, emphasizing the honor of collaborating with such a reputable company aiming to expand into the Australian market.

Acknowledging Papua New Guinea’s unique status as the only country where rugby league is considered the national sport, Mezzatesta highlighted the privilege of establishing a formal connection to the region through Lae Biscuit. The CEO anticipates leveraging this partnership to continue growing the Sharks’ fan base across the nation, building on their memorable trial in Papua New Guinea in 2020.

Ian Chow echoed the excitement, emphasizing the continuation of the partnership for the 2024 season. He praised the Cronulla Sharks for their family-like environment and expressed confidence that the collaboration would further strengthen support among loyal PNG fans.

Established in 1972 and currently the largest biscuit producer in the Pacific region, the Lae Biscuit Company operates from a recently inaugurated factory. In addition to biscuits, they manufacture popular instant noodles under the Snax line, catering to the diverse needs of Papua New Guineans. The company’s commitment to rugby league is evident in its sponsorship of the successful Lae Snax Tigers since the inception of the PNG domestic competition in 2011. The Tigers, boasting alumni like Justin Olam, have secured local premierships in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022, contributing players to the PNG Hunters competing in the Queensland Cup competition.
