Confirmed: Wide receiver is released by the Ottawa Redblacks.

Williams, Behar to miss Redblacks contest against Lions

The Ottawa Redblacks have parted ways with wide receiver Nate Behar, as reported by John Hodge of 3DownNation on Sunday night. Despite releasing Behar, the team will owe him $140,000 in actual cash for the upcoming season. However, Ottawa is obligated to repay $30,000 of his compensation.

Nate Behar, a 29-year-old London, Ontario native, stands at six feet tall and weighs 204 pounds. During his 12 games, Behar accumulated 39 receptions for 334 yards and secured one touchdown. The Redblacks signed him as a free agent on February 15, 2019.

Over his four seasons in Ottawa, Behar has demonstrated consistent performance, amassing 152 catches for 1,669 yards, three touchdowns, and two carries for three yards in 56 games. Prior to joining the Redblacks, Behar was drafted by the Eskimos in the first round (5th pick) of the 2017 CFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos (now Elks), contributing 27 catches for 257 yards and one touchdown in 30 games.

Behar’s collegiate career at Carleton University spanned four seasons (2013-2016), where he made significant contributions with 178 catches for 2,577 yards, 21 touchdowns, three carries for 17 yards, three kick returns for 32 yards, and three punt returns for 12 yards in 29 games for the Ravens. The decision to release Behar marks a change in the Redblacks’ roster strategy, concluding his tenure with the team.
