CONFIRMED: Defensive end signed with the BC Lions.

Duke Dawson, a former defensive back for the Denver Broncos, was added to the BC Lions roster on Tuesday.

In order to add depth at the secondary during the offseason, the BC Lions are bringing in some NFL talent. Duke Dawson, a defensive back for the Denver Broncos, signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday.

Despite not playing that season due to injury, Dawson was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft and went on to win a Super Bowl with the organisation.

After that, he played three seasons for the Denver Broncos. Over the course of 26 games in 2019 and 2020, Dawson recorded 27 tackles and two deflections of passes. He was sidelined by an ACL injury late in the 2020 season, and the Broncos added him to their practice squad in November 2021.

The Carolina Panthers were Dawson’s team to start the 2022 season, however he was cut towards the end of training camp. He played his final games of the season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he stayed until his release during training camp the following year.

He played for the Florida Gators during his collegiate career till 2017. After recording 34 tackles, four interceptions, nine pass deflections, and two tackles for loss in his last season, he was named to the First Team All-SEC squad.

The Lions added a defensive back to their roster last week when they signed Ciante Evans. Since the beginning of free agency, BC has signed a total of six players.
