After completing two early deadline day deals, Ryan Reynolds wants to sign a record-breaking deal with Wrexham.

Ryan Reynolds Unveils Diversity Initiative

Wrexham has been active on the day of the transfer deadline, but Ryan Reynolds’s expensive League Two team may be closing in on an even bigger deal before the window closes.

Wrexham, led by Ryan Reynolds, completed two transactions on deadline day, one of which involved the acquisition of striker Jack Marriott. However, the League Two leaders may possibly make additional moves.

Luke Bolton has arrived from Salford City, and Marriott has joined from Fleetwood Town. Even so, they are still interested in midfielder Jamie Lindsay, and it looks like they will need to pay a club record to acquire the Rotherham player.

The record currently held by the Red Dragons is £300,000, which they used to sign Ollie Palmer in 2022. James McClean, another six-figure acquisition that cost Wrexham an estimated £250,000, arrived in the summer, but Lindsay’s fee dwarfed those.

Lindsay, 28, a Scotland youth international, has spent four and a half years with Rotherham and has been promoted twice to the Championship. The Mail claims that if Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney made a move for the former Ross County player, they would “smash” the existing transfer record and put a stake in the ground for a second consecutive promotion.

After 27 games, Wrexham—the National League winners from the previous season—is ranked second in League Two. Due in part to their FA Cup run to the fourth round, they also have a game in hand on every team in their immediate vicinity.

At the beginning of the month, Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee, two players who were instrumental in the team’s promotion the previous season, signed new contracts. However, there ought to be more rivalry now for a number of spots.

Marriott joins after netting five goals for Fleetwood in League One this season. Marriott played Championship football for teams like Derby and Peterborough. After graduating from Manchester City’s youth, 24-year-old right-back Bolton has played in over 100 senior games in League One, League Two, and the Championship.

“After signing, I’m really happy to be here and happy to get the deal over the line,” stated Marriott, the new frontman. “I am thrilled to be here and I want to be involved in the trajectory that the club is going in. The way the team plays together and performs on the pitch is a real key factor for me signing.”

“We’re thrilled to have Jack join the team,” Phil Parkinson, the manager, continued. “He’s got proven experience at a higher level and comes to us looking to make a real contribution in our second half of the season.”

Bolton was also praised by Parkinson for his ability to provide “pace and dynamism” to the high-flyers. Bolton stated unequivocally that he relocated to the Racecourse Ground in order to challenge Stockport County, the league leaders, and win the championship.

“I’m buzzing to be here and how the Club has kicked on League Two to be second in the table is something I want to be a part of,” he stated. “I’m happy to be involved, and I hope we can move forward and pursue the title because it’s definitely still in the cards.”
