City seems unaffected by the difficulty of competing in the top six race.

The Norwich City team is up to the difficulties that lie ahead, having overcome Plymouth Argyle at Carrow Road on Friday by coming from behind.

Sam McCallum believes the Canaries’ ability to win in a variety of ways only strengthens their bond as a team and helps them compete for a top-six finish, even though they had to overcome a late deficit to win their seventh straight home league game.

Norwich currently has a difficult double header against Ipswich Town and Leicester City, who are both vying for automatic promotion, with seven games remaining, but McCallum is certain that they can handle such challenges.

“We intend to finish the job. Following the win, McCallum promised, “We have to take it game by game.”

“We felt like we had the momentum from beating Stoke before the international break, and we carried that into today. Where we left off, we’ve continued. We now want to use it against Ipswich and Leicester.

“Everyone in the dressing room is in high spirits. The boys are all quite optimistic about qualifying for the playoffs. All we can do at this point is press on, one game at a time.

“We’ve all demonstrated that we are capable of pushing three or five individuals past us in addition to coming from behind. We are adaptable.”

Both of City’s goals sprang from skillfully executed corner routines, and such narrow margins were necessary to turn the tide of the match.

Only Cardiff have scored more goals from set pieces than the Canaries this season. McCallum was at the heart of the second strike – and praised City coach Andrew Hughes for his work on that specific area of their game.

“We spend quite a lot of time on it,” McCallum said. “Hughesy (Andrew Hughes) is the main guy, so he gets all the credit for it, but we still have to put it in action on the pitch.

“We have to keep practising. With the games coming thick and fast, we have to work on them on and off the pitch. We have to change it up because teams watch us and know that we need to change it up. I think Hughesy could be running out of ideas towards the end of the season.

“It says a lot about the work we all put into it. I’m really frustrated it’s gone off the defender because I wanted the goal but I’ll take the assist.
