The Cincinnati Reds’ roster has improved significantly after a flurry of transactions.

On Tuesday, the Reds made a number of adjustments.

Today, the Cincinnati Reds lineup improved.

The starting lineup for Tuesday’s game looks like the one we anticipated to see this season thanks to the return of TJ Friedl. It’s nice to have a player who reached base more than 35 percent of the time back in the lineup, but the Reds also made progress by cutting down on their roster.

Reds supporters will remember Nick Martini’s heroics from Opening Day for a long time. The issue is that since Opening Day, he hasn’t accomplished much. Martini has only walked twice and struck out 22 times in 75 at-bats while only managing 12 hits in 28 games since that two-homer performance.

Conner Capel is another addition made by the Reds. Throughout the course of the last two seasons, he has made appearances and batted.280 in 125 at-bats. Although his MLB stats are not very impressive, his Triple-A play this year is quite encouraging.

Capel has done well in Louisville, despite the fact that minor league stats do not translate into major league performance. He has a slugging percentage of.567 and has reached base nearly 40% of the time. Out of his 26 hits, 15 have resulted in extra bases. He might be the kind of bench player the Reds need.

In the meanwhile, it’s not shocking that the Reds sent Bubba Thompson down to Double-A. With 11 strikeouts in 18 at-bats this season, he has exactly two more hits than you and me combined. He essentially served as a pinch runner and late-game defensive substitution. When playing centerfield, Thompson hasn’t been as successful as he should have been at making plays.
