In a surprising move, the management of Pine Lake Campground in Wisconsin has announced a ban on s’mores, citing healt concerns and a desire to promote healthier eating habits among campers.
Campground officials claim that the sugary snacks contribute to a growing trend of unhealthy diets among families. Instead, they will be replacing s’mores with “nature bars,” made from oats, nuts, and local fruits.
Reaction from campers has been mixed, with some expressing support for healthier options, while others are outraged, calling it an “attack on tradition.”
As a compromise, the campground plans to hold a “S’mores Day” where campers can enjoy the classic treat once a month, but only if they complete a “healthy eating workshop” first.
