To kick off the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the No. 10 Indiana Hoosiers 27-17 in South Bend, Indiana. Curt Cignetti and Indiana’s offense couldn’t get much going throughout the night, recording its second-lowest number of points on the year (15 vs. Ohio State). The Hoosiers also failed to get into the end zone until they did so twice with under two minutes left in the game, when it was already out of hand. Before the game, Cignetti joined ESPN’s “College GameDay” for an interview. The first-year head coach discussed Indiana’s successful 11-1 regular season and made a bold statement regarding top 25 teams.
