When Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased Wrexham in February 2021, it took the football world by surprise.
The Reds needed to make significant investments in order to escape the fifth division and resume their competitiveness in the National League of American football.
Since then, Reynolds and McElhenney have turned Wrexham into a global power, garnering two consecutive promotions and a devoted following thanks to the wildly successful Welcome to Wrexham documentary.
The Hollywood owners have provided Phil Parkinson with enough money ahead of their first League One campaign in 19 years to make some bold additions, such as Arthur Okonkwo and George Dobson.
They appear interested in more than simply football, though, since they may decide to invest in another sport.

The two are closely collaborating with Club Necaxa, a Mexican team, to raise their profile in the game, as it was disclosed in April that they had invested shares in the latter.
McElhenney and Reynolds ventured into a new sport last year when they acquired a 24% equity stake in the British Formula 1 outfit Alpine Racing.
The two may have looked into the cricket business after trying a new sport, as The Sun said they are thinking of investing in Welsh Fire, a Hundred team.
They reportedly met with ECB personnel and received invitations to watch games throughout the competition this summer. Of the eight teams, the Welsh Fire would be among the least expensive to purchase; according to people engaged in the negotiations, half of the squad is worth about £20 million.
The pioneers of Wrexham’s success are
Looking back, many people were skeptical of two American actors taking over a football team when McElhenney and Reynolds originally took over Wrexham.
They have, however, disproved the skeptics over the last three years and managed to get the Reds back into League One—an accomplishment that would not have been feasible without their drive and commitment.
Fans now consider themselves lucky to have the Hollywood pair leading the team, as their football success has given them opportunities to pursue other interests.
Welsh Fire, a cricket team, are now vying for a piece of the action after Formula 1 squad Alpine Racing observed how they have changed Wrexham.
It will be interesting to observe if talks are fruitful and if they will carry on with their recent success in the sports industry.

This summer’s preseason games have seen Phil Parkinson’s team perform admirably.
Before embarking on the “Wrex Coast Tour” and traveling to the United States, Wrexham crushed non-league team Hanley Town.
Parkinson’s team has drawn with two Premier League teams, with Chelsea and Bournemouth failing to defeat Wrexham.
Although we shouldn’t draw too much from these preseason games because they are still preliminary, Wrexham should be happy with their performances against Premier League opponents.
Although Parkinson is pleased with how his new recruits are adjusting, he is still eager to expand his team at the STōK Cae Ras.

Mullin would be a massive loss for Wrexham’s assault, and as Steven Fletcher gets closer to 38, he might play a smaller part.
John McAtee of Luton Town, the brother of James McAtee, a talented player for Manchester City, has been mentioned recently.
The star player for Luton, McAtee, is no stranger to Wrexham; in 2022, he sparkled against Wrexham while playing for Grimsby Town.

Bolton Wanderers reportedly made a bid to sign McAtee as the Trotters attempt to win the race, according to the Bolton News.
Bolton lost to Oxford United in the League One playoff final, which prevented them from being promoted to the Championship in May.
It’s obvious that Ian Evatt wants to do better this time around and that he thinks McAtee has the skill to contribute to that goal.
Even though Bolton would lose out on this move, which would be a huge coup for Wrexham given their early-season clash, it would feel even more sweeter.

Ideal for the Wrexham team is McAtee
The 24-year-old has incredible talent and can play both as a striker and a number 10 because of his obvious technical abilities.
Supporters of Wrexham will undoubtedly remember McAtee’s incredible curling goal from two years ago, which soared over Christian Dibble’s dejected dive.
It would be impressive to see McAtee score goals of that caliber while wearing a Wrexham shirt, and his profile fits well with Parkinson’s team.
While Elliot Lee was excellent the previous season, he did occasionally appear worn out.
There aren’t many players in the Wrexham team that can attack and threaten goals as Lee can from an advanced midfield position; McAtee might provide competition.
However, McAtee wouldn’t only be Lee’s rival; his versatility to play up top and fill in at the front line may make him a great addition to players like Mullin, Ollie Palmer, and Jack Marriott.
As the last month of the transfer market approaches, McAtee is undoubtedly a player worth chasing for Wrexham. He won’t be cheap, and signing him won’t be simple given Bolton’s interest.

Whitecaps manager Sartini stated that his team has a special opportunity to play Wrexham before of the Whitecaps match.
“I would love the Whitecaps to do something similar [docuseries],” he stated in a video message posted to the team’s official YouTube website.
“I chose a nice outfit because the game is very important; it was a tie between this outfit and dressing like Deadpool.”
“I think it’s a really nice product; to be honest, I tried to catch up and watched several episodes of the documentary.”
“We have an opportunity to reach a wider audience tomorrow than we usually would because, yes, there will be a lot of regular Whitecaps supporters there, but there’s also a chance that other fans may just be there because they loved the documentary and want to see if Ryan Reynolds will be there.

On Sunday, Wrexham will play Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer (MLS) to wrap up their Wrexham Coast trip.
Wrexham will be seeking to win their final game of the Wrex Coast trip after a strong preseason.
On Sunday, the North Wales team plays the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 00:30 (UK).
The way his team performed in the preseason after playing strong Premier League opponents will impress Phil Parkinson.
The Red Dragons defeated Hanley Town 5-1 to begin their League One preparations. They then brilliantly drew both of their US matches—a 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth and a 2-2 draw with Chelsea, the defending European champions.
The former Sunderland boss has been happy with his squad’s performance levels on the tour after being impressed by the new summer additions.
Callum Burton, George Dobson, Lewis Brunt, Arthur Okonkwo, and Sebastian Revan are eager to compete for a starting position at the Racecourse. Parkinson has granted minutes to each of the newcomers.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Wrexham team news
Elliot Lee, the English midfielder who had missed the previous game against AFC Bournemouth owing to a little injury he picked up against Hanley in the first pre-season friendly, made a comeback in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea in Santa Clara, which will have pleased Wrexham.
With most of his team available for selection, the former Sunderland manager will be happy with the level of fitness displayed in the most recent games.
Following surgery earlier this summer, Paul Mullin is still recovering away from the tour, and wing-back Jacob Mendy is also out of the picture for the Vancouver Whitecaps friendly.

How do Wrexham and the Vancouver Whitecaps match up?
In his match against Chelsea, the 56-year-old coach of Bradford City selected a good team, with expectations of naming a similar starting lineup.
It’s interesting to note that James McClean played forward last time out. Parkinson might want to rotate the lineup a little bit, maybe moving the veteran back to left wing back.
Since this is the final preseason game of the Wrex-coast trip, the Wrexham manager may start Wrexham star Andy Cannon against the Vancouver Whitecaps. The Wrexham manager started James Jones in midfield against the Premier League team.
