The NFL levied 19 fines for transgressions during Week 11 of the 2024 season, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams got the biggest one.
Williams didn’t put a big hit on a defenseless player or make helmet-to-helmet contact to incur the punishment. But he did grab his crotch after scoring a touchdown – officially it was “unsportsmanlike conduct (obscene gestures)” — and that drew a $19,697 fine. There was no penalty assessed on the field.
Williams scored on a 64-yard reception during the Lions’ 52-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. At the end of his sprint down the field, Williams leaped backward into the end zone holding his crotch in a tribute to former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch.
