BREAKING NEWS: New Orleans Saints dreaded rivals sign QB to a 4-year deal

The most dreaded rivals of the New Orleans Saints now have their next starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.

The quarterback position in the NFC South is now decided, and it might be for some time to come. The Atlanta Falcons decide on their new signal caller just a day after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locked up their quarterback spot.

Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins has signed to a four-year, $180 million contract with the Falcons, according to his agent Mike McCartney. According to the agreement, Cousins will receive an average yearly value of $45 million every year. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it also includes a $90 million guarantee for the first two years.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield signed a three-year, $100 million contract with the Buccaneers less than twenty-four hours before to this signing. The new contract that Cousins signed surpasses both that sum and the $37.5 million year average agreement that Saints quarterback Derek Carr received prior to the 2023 campaign.

These three quarterbacks, along with Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers in his second season, will lead the NFC South.

Cousin had an incredible season with the Minnesota Vikings last year, but his season was cut short after just eight games due to an Achilles injury. Cousin completed 216 passes for 2,331 yards and 18 passing touchdowns against just 5 interceptions during that shortened season.

In Atlanta, the Falcons are hoping to have that Cousins as their next starting quarterback. Young signal caller Desmond Ridder was let go by the team in 2023 following another unsuccessful stint at the starting position.
