NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Conner Jones has been suspended for one race following a serious incident during the Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jones intentionally collided with fellow competitor Matt Mills, sending Mills’ truck into the Turn 4 wall, where it caught fire. Mills was hospitalized for two days due to smoke inhalation but has since been released.
The collision occurred on Lap 76 and sparked controversy, leading NASCAR officials to suspend Jones for violating Sections 4.3.A and 4.4.B of the series rule book, which mandate safe and sportsmanlike conduct among competitors. As a result of the suspension, Jones will miss the upcoming Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Johnny Sauter will replace him, driving the No. 66 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150.
in the aftermath, Jones issued a public apology on social media, acknowledging the severity of his actions. Mills also took to social media after his discharge, expressing gratitude for the support he received during his recovery. He stated, “Glad to be out of the hospital… all the overwhelming support… means so much to me. I definitely didn’t like being in the hospital… Having you guys there to support me… I can’t thank you all enough.” The incident has raised significant concerns about safety and conduct within the series.
