As the NFL trade deadline approaches, the Tennessee Titans might consider moving several players to position themselves for the future. With an eye on the roster’s composition, potential trades could help the Titans accumulate draft capital or make strategic changes. Here’s a list of Titans players who could be available at the trade deadline:
1. Derrick Henry (RB)
Henry has been the backbone of the Titans’ offense for years, but at 30, his window for peak performance is closing. While still productive, Henry’s contract and the diminishing value of running backs in the modern NFL make him a trade candidate. A team in need of a powerful back for a playoff push might offer significant value, allowing Tennessee to rebuild while avoiding paying top dollar for an aging position.
2. Ryan Tannehill (QB)
Tannehill’s time as the Titans’ starting quarterback may be nearing its end. With rookie Will Levis waiting in the wings and Malik Willis also in development, the Titans may want to transition to the future sooner rather than later. A team with playoff aspirations but instability at quarterback could make a move for Tannehill, who brings veteran leadership and playoff experience. Moving him would give Tennessee financial flexibility and expedite the development of their younger QBs.
3. DeAndre Hopkins (WR)
Hopkins was signed to provide a reliable target for Tannehill, but if the Titans are focusing on the future, Hopkins’ veteran presence may be more valuable to a contending team. Hopkins still has elite skills, and his ability to make plays would be highly coveted by teams looking to bolster their receiving corps for a playoff run. The Titans, by trading Hopkins, could stockpile draft picks or younger talent.
4. Denico Autry (DL)
Autry has been a versatile and productive defensive lineman for the Titans, but as a 33-year-old in the final year of his contract, he might not fit into Tennessee’s long-term plans. A contender looking to strengthen its defensive front could target Autry, and the Titans could get a mid-round pick in return. His pass-rushing skills and experience would make him a valuable asset on the trade market.
5. Kevin Byard (S)
Byard has been a cornerstone of the Titans’ secondary, but at 30 years old, the Pro Bowl safety could be on the trade block as the team reshapes its roster. While still highly effective, Byard could command a significant return from a team looking for leadership in the defensive backfield. Trading him would be difficult emotionally, but it might help Tennessee acquire assets for future success.
Each of these players has contributed greatly to the Titans, but as the team looks to the future, trading veterans could be part of a strategic shift.
