BREAKING NEWS: In 2024, Caitlin Clark becomes the second rookie to win the WNBA Player of the Week award.

Early in her professional career, Caitlin Clark has achieved yet another noteworthy feat. The Indiana Fever guard received the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week award on Tuesday. She is only the second rookie in 2024 to be awarded the distinction, after forward Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky.

For her performance during Week 9 action, Clark received a prize. In games against the Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm, and Minnesota Lynx, the rookie from Iowa averaged 25.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.

In those three games, Indiana went 2-1, dropping to Minnesota (90-80) and winning against Phoenix (98-89) and Seattle (92-75). The Fever’s season record is 14–16 overall.

Adding to the several honors Clark has already received this 2024 season, it’s another significant one. She broke the league mark for rookie assists in a single season and became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.

Clark was also selected as a WNBA All-Star and broke the record for the most assists in a single game (19). Twice (in May and July), she has received the Rookie of the Month award.

Clark had never before been named the WNBA Player of the Week. She joins Reese as the second rookie in the 2024 WNBA Draft class to receive the award.

For the games in Week 7, Reese was selected as the WNBA Player of the Week. Throughout five games, she averaged 16.8 points and 14.0 rebounds per game.

During their debut seasons, Reese and Clark both had tremendous performances. After three previous meetings between the two players, the Fever leads the Sky 2-1 in the series. The regular season meeting between Indiana and Chicago is scheduled for Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. ET (TV: ION).
