FLORIDA MAJOR HURRICANE POSSIBLE: no western Carolina impact expected. Let me repeat, I do not expect this to impact us in the western Carolinas. But unfortunately, we’re talking about another major hurricane making landfall in the United States. This is just a matter of a few days away. What I’m seeing on satellite this morning has me concerned this storm could take off and rapidly intensify in the days to come making landfall somewhere between Tampa and Fort Myers. It’s rare to see a storm system become this organized and move due east – normally a cold front will make it ragged. In this case, the cold front coming our way will steer it away from us and will keep impacts out of the Carolinas. Storm surge will be very high at landfall and high winds could be dangerous all across Florida. If you have family or friends in Central Florida, Tuesday and Wednesday, please have them prepare and be aware. I will keep you posted on what will likely be named “Milton.”
