Previously one of the most highly-touted prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, Georgia defensive end Mykel Williams “could slip” in the first-round after an underwhelming performance at his pro day. The former Freshman All-American and two-time All-SEC Second Team selection posted career-highs in sacks (5) and tackles for loss (9) as a junior in 2024. Williams, a former five-star recruit, played last season on a Grade 2 ankle sprain that held him out of two games and limited him throughout the season.
The Columbus, Georgia, native elected to not participate at the combine in Indianapolis last month, citing his recovery from the injured ankle. That decision made Williams’ pro day on March 12 the only time NFL personnel would get to see him perform in drills before the draft in late April.
And Williams’ performance left something to be desired, according to ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller, who dropped the former Georgia star down to No. 22 in his player rankings. Miller reported that NFL scouts had “questions” after Williams clocked a 4.75 40-yard dash at 6-foot-5, 267 pounds.
