Booker and Durant outshine Giannis as the Suns prevail over the Bucks.

Booker, Durant lead Suns into crucial Game 4 vs. top-seeded Nuggets

The Phoenix Suns secured victory despite a subpar performance from beyond the arc, making only 8 of 28 attempts (29%) on 3-pointers.

In a Tuesday night matchup, Devin Booker showcased his scoring prowess with 32 points, while Kevin Durant contributed 28, leading the Phoenix Suns to a 114-106 victory over the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks.

Heading into the fourth quarter with a 79-73 lead, the Suns maintained control and secured the win. Durant’s impactful performance included a thunderous dunk, accompanied by a successful free throw, extending Phoenix’s lead to 93-80 with 8:51 remaining. The 14-time All-Star delivered a standout final quarter, hitting five consecutive shots and contributing 14 points.

The Bucks faced challenges due to the absence of star guard Damian Lillard, sidelined with a sprained ankle, and starting center Brook Lopez, who was unavailable for personal reasons. Additionally, forward Khris Middleton left the game in the first quarter with a sprained ankle, further limiting Milwaukee’s lineup.

Despite the Bucks’ resilience, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 34 points and 10 rebounds, they couldn’t overcome the Suns. Malik Beasley added 22 points for Milwaukee.

The victory marked the Suns’ success even with a subpar 29% shooting performance from beyond the arc, going 8 of 28 on 3-point attempts. Bradley Beal contributed significantly with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

This game was pivotal for the Bucks, who have struggled with a 1-4 record since the hiring of coach Doc Rivers, replacing the dismissed Adrian Griffin. The Suns, coming off a 4-3 road trip, demonstrated resilience and secured the win despite their suboptimal shooting from long range.

As the game unfolded, Middleton suffered an ankle injury when landing on Durant’s foot after a jump shot attempt. Durant was initially called for a foul, later upgraded to a Flagrant 1, as officials deemed that Durant did not provide Middleton adequate space to land. Middleton, a three-time All-Star, contributed six points in eight minutes before the injury.
