On Tuesday, the Birmingham Stallions took a few actions. Because of the injury that ended Scooby Wright’s season, they re-signed LB Maalik Hall. The Stallions have also released DT Jaylen Twyman and punter Colby Wadman.

Maalik Hall was with the Stallions during Training Camp. He was one of the offseason signings for the team, but was let go during the final set of cut downs.

Hall played the entirety of his college ball at the Division II level, with Southeast Oklahoma State. Hall was limited in minutes through the first three seasons, totaling 23 tackles across that span.

During his final two seasons, though, Maalik played some outstanding football. He compiled 128 tackles and an impressive 14 sacks, making himself a known presence within that defensive front seven.

Maalik Hall was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent, but did not record any stats with the team during one active game. Now, he’s back in action with the defending USFL Champs.

Colby Wadman & Jaylen Twyman Cut

In a rather unfortunate turn of events, former All-USFL punter Colby Wadman has been let go. He was a staple of the specialist group in Birmingham, but suffered an injury against DC, and seemingly hasn’t recovered. Instead of being placed on IR, the team has opted to stick with Drue Chrisman, who made his debut against Houston.

Wadman absolutely should be on the radar of other UFL teams. He’s consistently been one of the top punters in all of spring football. It’s shocking that the Stallions opted to let him go, but Chrisman must have impressed enough for this to happen.

DL Jaylen Twyman was an offseason addition, and totaled two tackles and 0.5 sacks for Birmingham this year. He was active in just one game for Birmingham this year (Michigan), playing 26 snaps. He did have an impressive 79.8 Defensive Grade in that game, via PFF.

Final Thoughts

With a 5-0 record, General Manager Zach Potter and Head Coach Skip Holtz has this team primed for another Championship run. They continue to roll with the punches, having lost multiple key pieces to injury.

The Stallions will hit the road again this week, taking on the Memphis Showboats who they demoralized in week three.
