Arizona’s basketball team is undergoing a significant change as Filip Borovicanin, a sophomore wing, has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal. Borovicanin, standing at 6 feet 9 inches, played in 34 games for the Wildcats over two seasons, with 20 appearances in the 2023-24 season. During his time at Arizona, he averaged 1.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field and an impressive 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

While Borovicanin had standout performances, such as scoring a career-best 11 points in the season opener against Morgan State and eight points against Southern a week later, his playing time was limited, especially in Pac-12 play. He played double-digit minutes only once in conference play, in the season opener against Cal, as Arizona consistently utilized an eight-man rotation throughout the season.

Originally from Serbia, Borovicanin showcased his talent on the international stage, averaging 14.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in seven games for Serbia in the FIBA U19 World Cup last summer. His decision to enter the transfer portal makes him the second Arizona player to do so, following Lithuanian freshman forward Paulius Murauskas.

The departure of Borovicanin marks the end of an era for Arizona basketball, signaling a transition period for the team. His decision to transfer opens up opportunities for other players on the roster while allowing Borovicanin to explore new options for his collegiate career.
