Am leaving: Justin Turner officially announced resignation and departure from Seattle Mariners today due to…..

Justin Turner was pulled from the second inning of this afternoon’s game in Baltimore, with reports that he’s headed to Seattle.

Turner had some nice words about Toronto and his disappointment about not being able to make a playoff run with the Jays. He was also extremely complimentary about the Blue Jays as an organization, which is good to hear. No doubt part of that is just Justin being a classy guy, but it’s good to hear that a guy like him who’s spent a lot of time with an indisputably top of the line club in the Dodgers is still impressed with Toronto’s facilities and organization. I hope his time in Seattle goes well.

Shi Davidi adds that outfielder RJ Schreck is the return. Schreck was Seattle’s 9th round draft pick last year out of Vanderbilt. He was a 5th year senior sign, so he’s already 23. Despite not being listed as one of Seattle’s top 30 prospects by Baseball America, he has put up great numbers in High A this season, slashing .261/.401/.464, 48% better than the league average. He’s scuffled a little since his promotion to AA a couple of weeks ago, but that looks mostly to be the product of a .190 BABIP.
