Franco Colapinto has explained that he ‘wants to be ahead’ of any F1 team-mate, even if he partners with Max Verstappen next season. The Williams starlet is being touted as an option for Red Bull should they decide to part company with Sergio Perez.
In a few months, Colapinto has risen from the new kid on the block to a household name in F1, scoring points in two of his first four Grand Prix weekends. While there is no room at Williams for 2025 due to Carlos Sainz’s impending arrival, other teams in the paddock are standing up and taking notice.
One of these teams is Red Bull. According to a report from Motorsport Italy, team principal Christian Horner believes that Colapinto has what it takes to make the jump straight into the seat alongside Verstappen despite Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda both waiting in the wings.
