Lewis Hamilton is braced for a frustrating end to his Mercedes career after trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin explained that the team will be using the remaining three races of the 2024 season as glorified test sessions to help George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for next year.
Hamilton will make the switch to Ferrari this winter knowing that the 2024 campaign has been one of the poorest of his F1 career. Aside from a magical three-race spell mid-season that brought two wins and a podium, the legendary Brit has often been left frustrated.
The difference between himself and team-mate Russell in the torrential conditions in Sao Paulo last time out demonstrated that perfectly. Hamilton was wrestling away at the steering wheel to keep his W15 on the track, while his colleague held the lead for the first half of the race, eventually finishing in P4.
