Breaking News: Vikings Urged to Sign $25 Million Veteran After…….more details

As the NFL trade deadline passed, the Minnesota Vikings chose not to make a move, but they remain active in exploring opportunities for roster improvements.

While there were no trades, a potential post-deadline acquisition could be veteran defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson, who was released by the Cleveland Browns.

Jefferson, 31, has been a productive interior pass rusher, registering 21 sacks over the last three seasons before his limited role in Cleveland’s deep defensive line rotation.

His best year came in 2022, when he ranked fifth among interior linemen in pressure rate.

Given his affordable contract and proven ability, Jefferson could provide the Vikings with a much-needed situational pass rusher to complement their run-stopping line.

The Vikings also made significant news off the field with the placement of kicker Will Reichard and All-Pro long snapper Andrew DePaola on injured reserve.

Reichard, dealing with a recurring quad injury, had missed two field goals in Week 9 after previously converting 34 straight.

DePaola’s hand injury will require surgery, further depleting special teams. In response, Minnesota signed kicker John Parker Romo and long snapper Jake McQuaide to fill in.

Romo, who had a standout season in the XFL, will take over kicking duties, though he lacks the same established trust Reichard had built.

With these adjustments, the 6-2 Vikings now turn their focus to a Week 10 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, where they are favored to win.
