The 33-year-old became the first athlete in history to win three straight global indoor sprint titles during an 18-season international career that saw him capture three gold medals in the world indoor 400m. In 400 meters, he also won four continental titles—three of them indoors and one outside. Maslak’s international career got off in his native country during the Ostrava World U18 Championships in 2007. In the following year, he competed in the 100m, 4x100m, and 4x400m at the World U20 Championships.
