Rackley W.A.R. Racing has announced a significant driver change in their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series lineup for the remainder of the 2024 season. Veteran driver Ty Dillon, who has been driving the No. 25 truck, will step down from his primary role, with 18-year-old Dawson Sutton taking over starting at the Kansas Speedway race on September 27. Dillon, however, is not leaving the team; instead, he will transition into a mentoring role, guiding Sutton as he navigates his transition from late model racing to the Truck Series.
Dillon had some solid performances this season, with his best finishes being two ninth-place efforts at Darlington Raceway and Richmond Raceway. However, both Dillon and Rackley W.A.R. decided to make this strategic shift to focus on Sutton’s development as a young talent. Sutton, who hails from Tennessee, has made two starts for the team this season in the No. 26 truck, showing promise despite his limited experience in the series.
Willie Allen, co-owner of Rackley W.A.R., praised Dillon for his contributions and expressed excitement about his continued involvement as a mentor.
