Lucas Andersen, a former winger for Denmark, is about to finalize his transfer to Queens Park Rangers.
Queens Park Rangers have had a fantastic few weeks in the Championship.
Following a dip in play over the holiday season, Marti Cifuentes took over as R’s manager in late October and had a significant impact. His team has already won seven of their past eight games, significantly boosting their chances of surviving.
The Hoops defeated Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday, earning a vital victory.
The visitors took the lead thanks to an own goal by Aynsley Pears in the 61st minute. Joe Hodge, making his debut, increased the lead three minutes later. Sam Gallagher gave Rovers a chance to tie the score in the last minute, but the R’s managed to hold on for all three points.
The team led by Cifuentes is still in 22nd place in the standings, but they are only three points out of safety. They will play again on Saturday at Loftus Road against Norwich City.

With midfielders Hodge and Isaac Hayden signing on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United, respectively, it was a successful end to the January transfer season for the Hoops. They might not be the last new players to join the team.
The R’s are expected to sign free agent winger Lucas Andersen, pending to receiving a work permit next week, according to Danish publication Tipsbladet.
QPR set to complete Lucas Andersen deal
Before moving to Ajax in August 2012, Andersen started his career with Aalborg in his native Denmark. He would go on to score five goals in 54 games for the Dutch powerhouse.
In July 2016, the 29-year-old left for Grasshoppers. Two years later, he came back to Aalborg on loan, and the following summer, the agreement was finalized.
Andersen was chosen Aalborg captain in 2019 and quickly made a reputation for himself in the team. However, on transfer deadline day, he was released by mutual consent because his playing time had run out. This allowed him to sign with another
The winger played for R under head coach Cifuentes during the Spaniard’s one-year tenure as the club’s manager between January 2021 and January 2022. In 176 games across his two stints at Aalborg, the winger scored 29 goals and contributed 30 assists.
With Tipsbladet stating that he has passed a physical and reached an agreement with the Hoops, as well as that his work visa is expected to be issued this week, it appears that Cifuentes will be reuniting with Andersen at Loftus Road.
Lucas Andersen’s impending arrival is wonderful news for QPR.
After moving to Loftus Road, Andersen will need some time to get used to the Championship, but he might be a great addition to the R’s roster.
Andersen appears to have a lot of talent, as seen by his past experience playing for a team the size of Ajax and his six international appearances for Denmark. Cifuentes is obviously a big fan of Andersen.
With 27 goals, QPR is the third-lowest scoring team in the Championship, so bolstering their attack is a significant plus and caps off a fantastic end to the January window.
The arrival of Andersen and the acquisitions of Hodge and Hayden have improved the R’s chances of making it through the second division this season.
