The Jamaican sprint queen disclosed that she was not angry after missing the 200m world record in 2023 despite her facial expressions.
When Shericka Jackson crossed the finish line of the women’s 200m final at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, many alleged that she was unhappy after missing the world record from her facial expressions.
In the race, Shericka claimed the gold medal, clocking 21.41 seconds to cross the finish line, narrowly missing out on the late Florence Griffith-Joyner’s world record time of 21.34 seconds. That time makes her the second-fastest woman in the world and the fastest woman alive in the 200m.
Shericka has come out to refute those claims and instead noted that she was unwell at the time she was running the 200m. The reigning world 200m champion further noted that she knew the world record was in reach but it was not her main focus at the time.
