Joe Edwards praises Millwall players as they win third Championship game in a row – South London News

Following their impressive recent run of play, Millwall’s head coach Joe Edwards praised his squad after they triumphed 1-0 at Bristol City.

Although the Lions had dominated the second half, Shaun Hutchinson displayed the poise of a striker to produce a brilliant sweeping finish beyond Max O’Leary in the 92nd minute to seal the points.

The Lions defeated QPR, Norwich, and Bristol City in the space of a week, and they have now triumphed in three straight games throughout the holiday season.

And Edwards was thrilled with his team’s tremendously successful second-half performance, both in terms of outcome and execution.

After the game, Edwards evaluated, “We said at halftime that the game was a little bit flat, albeit they had more of the ball.”

“We arrived with a well-defined defensive strategy that has worked well for us lately. We have been making a lot of effort to play consistently. It is not a good idea to chop and change your message when you have a game every two days.

“In the first half, we struggled to establish momentum with the ball. They had a lot of possession without really harming us, and we were strong, but we lacked a little bit of confidence and intensity. We had a similar game against Cardiff recently, where not much was happening, and we ended up playing a second-half that felt like we were waiting [for something to happen], so we talked about it at halftime. “Don’t go out there and wait,” we said at halftime. “I think you’re on thin ice if you go on a football pitch and wait for a draw.”

“I felt we were lot more proactive, played better football, and got in between them after the players took things to heart. We were affected when Aidomo Emakhu on the stage. Although we had extended periods of possession in the first half, I believe we were well worth the victory overall. I’m sure they’ll be dissatisfied.
