Cubs are viewed as Favourites for  Superstar not Shohei Ohtani

The Chicago Cubs are seen as one of the best fits for a superstar outfielder in the trade market this offseason.

The Chicago Cubs need to get better in the offseason, just as every other team does. There are pieces in the organization at all levels that are talented, but the lack of overall elite players could be the reason they don’t become a contending team that they’re looking to be in 2024.

With a major commitment to Craig Counsell, making him the highest-paid manager in the sport, the Cubs have no excuse to not spend on their roster. Whether that be Shohei Ohtani or any other player, Chicago must make the necessary moves this offseason to complement Counsell.

Of the possible names available, the Cubs are viewed as potential suitors for superstar Juan Soto.

3 Juan Soto trade proposals to help the Padres win in 2024 (and beyond) – NBC 7 San DiegoSoto’s just 25 years old and would be an instant cornerstone for the franchise. With the prospects the organization has, the deal is very possible, too.

Mike Petriello of MLB.com views the Cubs as a legit suitor for the superstar slugger, ranking them as the fourth-best fit.

“With Cody Bellinger and Marcus Stroman each off to free agency this winter, the Cubs have holes to fill and some newly found payroll space to fill them; it’s no accident they keep coming up in Shohei Ohtani rumors. A farm system that’s stronger than it’s been in years would be enough to satisfy San Diego’s needs, and it’s an absolute, 100 percent must that if they don’t retain Bellinger, they find a top-level bat to replace him – a big ask in a very, very thin free-agent position-player market. They may have no choice but to turn to trades.”

Considering replacing Cody Bellinger is one of the biggest concerns of the offseason, why not go out and trade for the best available hitter?

Soto would immediately be able to step into their outfield and lineup and become an impact player.

Chicago continues to be a team to watch this offseason in free agency and the trade market.
