About a month before first-year Kentucky head coach Mark Pope formally entered the highly publicized competition, on May 20, NC State basketball head coach Kevin Keatts made an offer to forward Nate Ament of Highland School (Va.). However, given that one advantage of being a blueblood is having an abundance of five-star recruits come visit, it should come as no surprise that the 6-foot-9, 185-pound phenom’s first official visit will be to the recruiting powerhouse in Lexington.

Ament, who has improved to No. 13 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite while dazzling in grassroots action this summer, has locked in his visit with the Wildcats to start on August 28, according to a report published by On3’s Jacob Polacheck on Wednesday night. Ament is known for his broad variety of pro-like scoring plays.
All the bluebloods are on his offer sheet, along with approximately two dozen other suitors.
Even though Keatts and his team don’t seem like favorites right now, it’s important to note that Ament hasn’t officially reduced the number of recruits he has. He hasn’t indicated that he is in a rush to choose a college, though, as Polacheck pointed out that the 17-year-old is probably going to hold off on announcing the winner until after the November signing period.
Driven by the success of the program’s first Final Four appearance in forty-one years, NC State basketball recruiters have been able to get an official visit from one of the program’s five 2025 prospects, guard Darius Adams of La Lumiere School (Ind.). Adams is ranked No. 17 overall in the cycle, four spots below Ament. The first weekend in September is when he intends to be in Raleigh.
Ricardo Greer Jr., a three-star guard from Archbishop Alter High School in Ohio, is still the lone 2025 commitment for the Wolfpack.
Nevertheless, until he announced his pledge and reclassification a few weeks ago, NC State basketball freshman guard Bryce Heard was a 2025 potential.
