Update on top prospect’s Injury rehab from the Yankees Manager

Transcript of Aaron Boone news conference

Aaron Boone talked about a variety of topics while handing out food in the Bronx on Thursday. One was the recovery of New York Yankees prospect Jasson Domínguez.

In September, Domínguez had surgery on the torn UCL in his right elbow, shortly after he was called up by the Yankees. The Tommy John surgery, which featured an InternalBrace, was performed by Dr. Keith Meister, who is the team surgeon for the World Champion Texas Rangers.

Domínguez is now three months into his recovery from the surgery.

Per the New York Daily News, his recovery is going well, with Boone reporting that Domínguez should look a lot like a “regular player” when the Yankees head to Tampa for Spring Training in February.

That would put their No. 2 prospect approximately about five months into his recovery.

Yankees' Jasson Dominguez in play for September call-up

Boone would only say that the player nicknamed ‘The Martian’ will be back “sooner rather than later,” but didn’t commit to a timeline.

Aggressively, he could return on a timeline set by Philadelphia’s Bryce Harper.

He had Tommy John surgery in November of 2022, right after the Phillies wrapped up their run to the National League crown. He returned to game action in late May as a designated hitter and to the field as a first baseman in July. Harper’s recovery is the fastest in baseball history by a position player.

Domínguez was called up on Sept. 1 and hit a home run in his first Major League at-bat while facing the Houston Astros. He batted .258 with four home runs and seven RBI in his short stint in the Majors. Before that, he batted .265 with 15 home runs and 76 RBI with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
