We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Rangers…

Rangers striker Danilo will have undergone further tests and is now set to be out longer than first expected, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

Philippe Clement revealed at the time that he may require surgery and it did not seem like he was going to be missing the majority of the season, but that development emerged four days later.

The injury expert claims that the Gers medical staff will have waited to see how the injury evolved before conducting further tests to see just how serious it was.

Rangers summer signing now facing over two months out of action

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“It is a bad one and it’ll keep him out for a while.

“The manager said initially that it was unclear at the time so he was likely still being assessed.

“He then will have undergone further tests to see the extent of the damage and that showed it was worse than first feared.

“Sometimes you need days to see how the injury evolves and have a clearer look at it.“

The Brazilian has had rotten luck with injuries since his move to Ibrox in the summer.

He first suffered a facial injury that forced him to wear a mask while playing and now this ligament injury will keep him out until April.

The 24-year-old had become the first choice when fully fit and even managed to score four goals this season.

It remains to be seen if the club are successful in signing a replacement in January as there are options reportedly being considered.
