Rangers takeover bid collapses after US investor encounters 'resistance' from Ibrox shareholders

Reactions have been made by Lawrence Shankland to rumours that he would join Rangers in January.

With his goal against Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday, the Hearts skipper maintained his excellent form from this season. However, due to his great goal total, questions have been raised regarding his future.

Although southern teams have also been linked to the Scotland international, Rangers seem to be the clear favourites to sign him.

Where Shankland ends up is still up in the air, but he maintains that the rumours are a sign that he is playing well.

“I take that to mean that you’re doing well when there’s speculation,” he clarified. Throughout my whole career, there has consistently been conjecture around.

It indicates that I’m achieving my goals and performing well at work. I only concentrate on performing my work for Hearts to the best of my ability.

Shankland went on to say of his goal against Celtic, “I was just focused on hitting the target.” It all comes down to hitting the goal when you’re feeling a little liberated.

“Winning always makes everything better. It’s much more unique because of that. That was a performance the lads should be proud of. The last time Hearts came here and prevailed was a very long time ago. We deserved to enjoy those times, so you should too.

At this week’s Hearts AGM, Andrew McKinlay emphasised that the team had no intention of selling Shankland in January, expressing “some amusement” at the degree of hostility directed against the Tynecastle team.
