As UEFA publish updated document, Rangers now miles ahead of Celtic.

Rangers: Rangers expand gap between Gers and Celtic in UEFA rankings

As the Gers advanced to the Europa League knockout rounds, UEFA revised the club coefficients, placing Rangers 28 spots higher than Celtic.

Rangers received 14 coefficient points and a £3 million bonus after defeating Real Betis on Thursday night to top Group C. This information was reported by Daily Record. [December 15]

Celtic were outbid by 28 places in the UEFA standings, with their opponents in 55th place following yet another dismal Champions League campaign.

Beat out your competitors

Rangers are enjoying far more success in Europe than Celtic, even though they play in a lower-tier league and still have to contend with strong opponents like Sparta Prague and Betis.

The Gers will need to get ready as they go in Europe since West Ham, Brighton, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, and Atalanta have all qualified for the next round of the competition.

Though Rangers’ next opponent remains to be seen, they may take comfort in the knowledge that their opponents, who finished worst in Group E with only one victory in six games and a goal differential of -10, have already been eliminated from the Champions League.

There is still a lot of the season still to play, even though Celtic can brag of leading the Scottish Premiership by five points. The impending Old Firm derby, in which Philippe Clement is expected to continue his winning streak at the club, will put the cat among the pigeons.

At the end of this season, the Bhoys will be looking to win their 54th league championship, while the Gers will be fighting for their 56th. The guys in blue are still one step ahead of Celtic, despite their recent domination in Scotland.

This is reinforced by Rangers’ performances in Europe, as Betis—the seventh-place team in La Liga—was unable to salvage a single point from either of the two matches.
