Oklahoma Football: Four Sooners Suspended from the Team Indefinitely
On Wednesday night, NewsOK.com reported that four Oklahoma Sooners have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules.
These Sooners include projected starting wide receiver Jaz Reynolds, leading returner Trey Franks, backup safety Quentin Hayes and wide receiver Kameel Jackson (who announced via Twitter that he was transferring two days ago).
As was first reported by OUInsider.com, Franks’ suspension lasts for the duration of the season, whereas Reynolds’ suspension is for seven games.
This is a major hit for the wide receiver position, which was considered to be one of the deepest spots on the team. Reynolds, who played in just 10 games last year after being suspended for three, finished the year with 41 receptions for 715 yards and five touchdowns.
Reynolds figured to be one of the Sooners’ starting wide receivers this season after having a breakout sophomore campaign.
After finishing the year with 22 receptions for 196 yards, Franks was set to see a solid amount of playing time on offense again this season. However, where the Sooners will miss Franks the most is in the return game.
Franks averaged 23.9 yards per return as a sophomore last season.
With Reynolds out for the majority of the season, freshman wide receiver Trey Metoyer will likely slide into a starting role opposite of junior Kenny Stills.
The season hasn’t even started, and the Sooners are already playing from behind.
